Patrick O'Connor
Patrick O'Connor is probably one of the best friends Fred never knew
he had! In a long career covering book and television production,
O'Connor was the man almost single-handedly responsible for the "Mapp &
Lucia" revival in the US - he managed to get the sextet republished by
two different publishing houses, and thus instigated Fred's return to American
popularity.
"Don't Look Back" is a collection of anecdotes from his life, and was
published by Moyer Bell in 1993, and contains a chapter entitled "Lying
for Lucia" in which he recount how the Lucian resurrection came about.
In due course, we will (with the very generous and kind permission of the
author) be putting extracts from this chapter on this page - in the meantime,
