The "Mapp & Lucia" TV Series
Back in 1986, LWT produced the first of two television adaptations of the last three books in the "Mapp & Lucia" series. The adaptations were broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK, and were remarkably popular, inspiring something of a revival of interest in Fred's works.
The Series starred Geraldine McEwan as 'Lucia', Prunella Scales as 'Mapp' and Nigel Hawthorne as 'Georgie'.
There was a second series produced in the following year and, apart from the occasional repeat on Channel 4, UK Gold and, (at time of writing) Hallmark, that was that.
Granada recently issued two double video sets of the series in the UK (we were years behind the Americans, who got a video release, albeit on 5 tapes, AGES ago!)
